Woman Found Dead and Decaying in Makassar Boarding House, Face Covered by Pillow
The corpse of the woman, who hailed from North Toraja, was discovered by the boarding house owner’s child after they detected a pungent smell on the second floor of the building located on Jalan Tidung Mariolo, Rappocini, on Wednesday (13/5) at approximately 08:30 local time. Initially, a neighbour of the victim, identified as RK (38), noticed the unpleasant odour and reported it to the boarding house owner’s child.
“The boarding house owner’s child was cleaning up garbage when I asked if there might be a dead rat nearby. They searched, brought a ladder to the second floor, and looked around until they reached the ceiling. That’s when they spotted the victim’s foot,” said RK to reporters, as reported by detikSulsel on Saturday (16/5/2026).
The discovery of the victim’s body was then reported to the local community leader. Shortly after, police arrived and secured the crime scene.
Upon discovery, the victim’s condition was severely decomposed, lying in a supine position. She was also wearing a purple dress, and dried blood was visible on her thigh.
“When the door was opened, it was clear that her face was covered by a pillow, and she was lying face down. There was blood around her thigh; it’s unclear if she was wearing trousers or not because it had turned black. Her entire body was swollen, and there were many flies,” he said.
