Woman followed from bank, robbed

JAKARTA: A woman who had just withdrawn money from a Bank BCA was robbed upon her arrival at her house on Jl. Menteng Dalam in Setiabudi, South Jakarta.

The victim suffered cuts on her right arm and her back in the incident.

The robbery took place at about 2 p.m. on Wednesday after Muhlena, 32, had withdrawn Rp 15 million from the bank on Jl. Sahardjo, South Jakarta, Antara reported.

The victim went to the bank with her two sisters and her driver, and went home immediately after withdrawing the money. When her car arrived at her house, she exited the vehicle carrying one of her sister's bag.

Two robbers on a motorcycle, who had apparently followed the victim from the bank, then approached. One of them cut the strap of the bag Muhlena was carrying, cutting the victim's arm and back in the process.

The robbers then fled with the bag, which contained Rp 1 million, two gold rings and some other items. The Rp 15 million Muhlena had taken from the bank was left untouched in the car.

Several people who witnessed the incident did not attempt to intervene after one of the robbers threatened them with a knife.--JP
