Woman Dies in Tangerang Workshop and Convenience Store Fire

A fire broke out at a motorcycle workshop and grocery store in Sukamulya Village, Cikupa District, Tangerang Regency, Banten, on Saturday (30 May) afternoon, resulting in the death of one woman. CNNIndonesia’s on-site report showed flames spreading rapidly and engulfing both structures, with local residents helping to extinguish the fire and salvage belongings such as motorcycles, compressors, and household goods. Amirudin, Commander of the Mako Curug unit of Tangerang Regency’s Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), stated they received the fire report via the call center. ‘The cause remains unknown as investigations are ongoing,’ he added. BPBD deployed 12 personnel and two fire trucks to the site, with the blaze extinguished in approximately 10 minutes. Despite the swift containment, officers discovered a 19-year-old woman deceased inside the structure, found in the bathroom. The victim’s body was transported to Balaraja Regional Hospital for autopsy, with her identity still being confirmed. Meanwhile, police are conducting investigations by interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence at the scene.
