Woman Becomes Victim of Breast Groping While Jogging in Sewon, Bantul

A woman became the victim of breast groping while jogging with her husband in Sewon, Bantul. Sewon Police are investigating the incident. The event was shared on Instagram by the account @merapi_uncover. The victim, who was jogging in front of the Sewon IPAL wastewater treatment plant, was assaulted on Friday (28/8).

“The story is that every morning I jog with my husband on a route near our house. The route we take always changes but is still around the house. This morning, as usual, we planned to jog from home towards Pendowo field, passing in front of the Sewon IPAL wastewater treatment plant. The road is fairly quiet. I usually walk side by side with my husband,” the Instagram account @merapi_uncover said, as seen by detikJogja on Saturday (29/8/2026).

However, the victim then ran a bit faster, leaving her husband behind. While running alone, she became the victim of breast groping. “My breast was suddenly grabbed by a stranger,” the account continued.

Sewon Police Chief AKP Sutrisno said he was aware of the information. According to him, Sewon Police officers had visited the scene. “That is correct (there was a breast groping incident in Sewon), officers have also been to the scene,” he said when contacted by detikJogja on Saturday (29/8/2026).

Sutrisno added that police had also taken a statement from the victim, who went directly to Sewon Police after the incident. “The victim has come to the police station to give a statement,” he said.

Police are currently conducting an investigation to uncover the case, including taking statements from witnesses around the scene. “Police are currently carrying out an investigation,” he said.
