Woman arrested for drug possession

TANGERANG (JP): A fifty-three-year-old woman named Kartini was arrested by custom and excise officers at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport with 532 ecstasy pills hidden in a small pillow and handbag, police said on Thursday.

"Kartini was nabbed by officers on Tuesday when she was about to board a Garuda Airways flight to North Sumatra capital of Medan from Terminal E," airport police chief Asst. Supt. Napoleon Bonaparte said at a media conference.

The woman admitted to have been given a roundtrip Jakarta - Medan ticket, he said.

She had been told to hand the drugs to a courier in Medan's Polonia Airport, he added.

"We tried to capture the courier in Medan but nothing showed up. It seems that Kartini is only a victim here and the network has outsmarted her," Napoleon said.

The police have secured the green ecstasy pills, the pillow and handbag as evidence. (41/edt)
