Woman arrested for dealing drugs

JAKARTA (JP): Police arrested a 39-year-old woman yesterday for trafficking drugs, and confiscated five kilograms of marijuana.

Major Indawan, the head of the anti-narcotics squad, said yesterday that Mursinah was picked up in a pre-dawn raid on her residence on Jl. Kayu Jati II in Rawamangun, East Jakarta.

Indawan said that police had monitored the house for several days before deploying members of the anti-narcotics squad.

The woman, a mother of three children, turned the lights off when the officers' knocked on the house's several doors, Indawan said.

The woman appeared minutes later, scolding the officers for disturbing her sleep.

After being allowed to enter the house, the officers found packages of marijuana under dirty clothes in the bathroom and also in the attic.

The marijuana was still moist, so police assume it had just been harvested, Indawan said.

"We are investigating where the woman got the marijuana." (bsr)
