WO Marwah Owner Admits Bride and Groom Funds Used to Cover Losses
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Owners of Wedding Organizer (WO) Marwah, RM and ER, have admitted that funds from brides and grooms were used to pay employee salaries and vendors at the Bandung branch, which reportedly went bankrupt in 2024.
The admission was made during a meeting mediated by East Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polres Metro Jakarta Timur) between the alleged perpetrators and nine couples who were victims of WO Marwah.
“We also asked where the money went. He said it was used to cover losses because the Bandung branch reportedly went bankrupt in 2024,” said Aldy (32), a WO Marwah victim, when contacted by KOMPAS.com on Sunday (31/5/2026).
During the meeting, RM and ER also acknowledged the company’s unstable financial situation.
However, ER claimed he would compensate all 58 affected couples.
ER promised to refund the money within six months.
However, when asked about payment guarantees, ER stated there were no specific assets to secure the repayment.
“He said there was no guarantee, only his assets in Rorotan – decorations, plates, cooking utensils, and clothing,” Aldy explained.
Aldy added that the meeting yielded no agreement, with victims handing the case entirely over to East Jakarta Metropolitan Police.
Previously, the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit arrested the WO Marwah owner suspected of defrauding dozens of brides and grooms.
“East Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit successfully secured the owner of Wedding Organizer (WO) Marwah suspected of committing fraud against brides and grooms,” said East Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Senior Commissioner Alfian Nurrizal on his official TikTok account, as reported by KOMPAS.com on Sunday (31/5/2026).
Police data indicates 58 brides and grooms were allegedly victims. Of these, two couples proceeded with their weddings but without the agreed services, while 56 others failed to marry.
Of the 24 documented victims, provisional losses total approximately Rp 2.658.885.000 and could increase.
“You know, marriage is sacred. But you did this through fraud. It’s heartless. Your actions are despicable. You kept lying,” Alfian told the suspect during the meeting.
The case has drawn public attention after videos of the meeting between victims and the suspect circulated on social media.
