WKI Integrates GRC into Business Decision-Making

PT Waskult Karya Infrastruktur (WKI) is implementing Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) in its business decision-making processes, ranging from the tendering stage to cash flow control. The application of this risk management approach is used to identify potential risks from the outset and determine mitigation steps within the company’s activities.

The Acting President Director of WKI, Bambang Dwi Wijayanto, stated that GRC is not merely placed as a means of regulatory compliance, but is utilised in decision-making processes at both strategic and operational levels.

“For us, GRC is not just about fulfilling regulatory obligations. We integrate GRC into every business decision-making process,” said Bambang.

The implementation of GRC at WKI includes risk-based tender reviews, a Risk Management Committee, an Investment and Divestment Committee, centralised payments, and the integration of risk indicators with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

This mechanism is used to identify risks during the planning stage, establish mitigations, and monitor their implementation. In business activities, risk management also serves as a consideration in project selection, contract control, cash flow monitoring, and fraud risk mitigation.

As a company operating in the infrastructure sector, WKI faces several risks, including those related to contracts, funding, operations, and compliance. Risk management is necessary to ensure that business decisions consider the company’s ability to face potential risks.

“Risk management does not directly generate revenue. Its contribution is helping to ensure that revenue is obtained from healthier decisions and projects, with acceptable risks, maintained margins, and controlled cash flows,” said Bambang.

This implementation was recognised at the TOP GRC Awards 2026 held in Jakarta on Wednesday (9/9/2026). WKI received the TOP GRC Awards 2026 - 4 Stars rating, an increase from the 3-star rating in 2025, while Bambang received ‘The Most Committed GRC Leader 2026’ award.

According to Bambang, this achievement serves as input for the company to continue evaluating the implementation of GRC in its business activities.

“This award serves as feedback for us to continue improving GRC maturity and to ensure its implementation delivers a real impact on the quality of decisions and the company’s sustainability,” said Bambang.
