The military prosecutor presented a civilian witness named Muhammad Hidayat in the case of the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. Hidayat admitted that he briefly chased the defendant who attacked Andrie but was unable to catch him.

This was stated by Hidayat while testifying at the Jakarta Military Court on Wednesday (6/5/2026). The four defendants in this case are Defendant I Sergeant Two Edi Sudarko, Defendant II First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Defendant III Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetyo, and Defendant IV First Lieutenant Sami Lakka.

Hidayat was at the security post with other residents named Pajri and Buyung when the acid attack on Andrie occurred. Hidayat said he immediately approached Andrie, who was screaming, and tried to chase the defendant who fled after carrying out the act.

“On 12 March 2026, around 22:00 or 23:00, what did you hear, what did you see, and what did you know from witness 6?” asked the prosecutor.

“Alright, sir, at the beginning, I heard screams for help, then I went with Pajri and the others to the victim. We asked what happened, was he mugged or what,” replied Hidayat.

Hidayat said he saw Andrie screaming and wailing while removing his shirt after the attack. He said Andrie immediately stated that he had been doused with acid.

“As the witness recalls, what was the question to the victim?” asked the prosecutor.

“Why, bro, why, bro?” replied Hidayat.

“Did he answer at that time?” asked the prosecutor.

“He answered, bro, no, no, not a mugging, acid, acid,” replied Hidayat, imitating Andrie’s response.

Hidayat said that when he arrived at the scene, Andrie had already removed his helmet, jacket, and bag. Hidayat also chased the defendant after the attack but could not catch him.

“Approximately how far did you chase the perpetrator?” asked the prosecutor.

“About 100 metres, sir, because the motorbike still had a lot of liquid on it, sir,” replied Hidayat.

Hidayat tried to chase the defendant using Andrie’s motorbike. He said the bike still had a lot of acid liquid on it.

“The motorbike you rode was the victim’s motorbike?” asked the prosecutor.

“The victim’s motorbike,” replied Hidayat.

Hidayat then returned to Andrie because he failed to catch the defendant. He said Andrie’s body was red at that time.

“What was the condition of the victim’s belongings? Were they damaged by the liquid?” asked the prosecutor.

“The jacket was destroyed, sir, the shirt too,” replied Hidayat.

“Then on the motorbike, what was damaged? Was it the victim’s motorbike?” asked the prosecutor.

“On the motorbike, it was just white, sir, when splashed with the acid,” replied Hidayat.

Hidayat said that Andrie’s motorbike also smelled spicy. However, during the incident, Hidayat said he did not yet know that the liquid was acid.

“Earlier the witness said the seat was destroyed, right?” asked the prosecutor.

“Yes, sir,” replied Hidayat.

Hidayat also said he felt heat on his buttocks from riding Andrie’s motorbike while chasing the defendant. He said his trousers were also damaged from the remaining liquid on Andrie’s motorbike.

“But the witness chased on that motorbike, so you sat on the seat, right? Did your trousers get damaged too?” asked the prosecutor.

“Destroyed, sir, destroyed too, sir,” replied Hidayat.

“Hot?” asked the prosecutor.

“Quite, sir,” replied Hidayat.

Prosecution

Previously, the prosecutor charged four TNI soldiers with dousing KontraS activist Andrie Yunus with acid. The military prosecutor said the defendants carried out the act because they were annoyed with Andrie.

The prosecutor said the defendants learned of Andrie on 16 March 2025 when Andrie entered and interrupted a parliamentary meeting discussing revisions to the TNI Law held by the DPR at the Fairmont Hotel in South Jakarta. The defendants considered Andrie’s actions to have insulted the TNI institution.

“From that incident, the defendants considered Andrie Yunus to have insulted the TNI institution, even trampling on the TNI institution,” said the prosecutor when reading the indictment.

In short, the defendants sought information about Andrie Yunus’s activities. They divided tasks when carrying out the acid attack.

The prosecutor charged the four soldiers with violating Article 469 paragraph 1 subsidiary to Article 468 paragraph 1 further subsidiary to Article 467 paragraph 1 in conjunction with paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 20 letter C of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.
