Witness testifies against Pollycarpus
JAKARTA: Garuda Indonesia vice president of corporate security Ramelgia Anwar testified on Tuesday that he did not know who assigned pilot Pollycarpus Budihari Priyanto, charged with playing a role in the murder of Munir, to fly to Singapore on the same flight as the rights campaigner.
Testifying at the trial of Pollycarpus on Tuesday, he told the Central Jakarta District Court that he only learned of the pilot's assignment to Singapore after reading a flight report filed by the suspect himself.
"But I do not know who gave him the assignment," Ramelgia said.
Munir died on a Garuda flight from Jakarta to Amsterdam on Sept. 7 last year. He is believed to have been poisoned during the first leg of the flight from Jakarta to Singapore.
In the previous court session, former Garuda president director Indra Setiawan said Pollycarpus was acting as a "corporate security officer", not a pilot, when he flew on the same flight as Munir.
However, Ramelgia denied this, saying Pollycarpus did not perform the duties of a corporate security officer during the flight to Singapore. --Antara
