Witness Protests, Demands Richard Lee Remove Wig in Court

A witness in the trial of cosmetic doctor Richard Lee has protested his appearance in court, alleging he was wearing a wig that made him difficult to identify. The moment occurred when witness Samira Farahnaz, also known as Doktif, was testifying in a case concerning alleged violations of consumer rights and health law at the Tangerang District Court, Banten, on Thursday (13/8/2026).

Doktif initially requested an interruption to question the presiding judge about the rules regarding attire and accessories in the courtroom. “Is it permissible to wear accessories such as hats, sunglasses, or other items in the courtroom?” Doktif asked the panel of judges.

The judge responded by clarifying the court’s regulations, emphasising that the courtroom must be sterile from inappropriate attributes. “Yes, those wearing hats, there are rules against wearing hats in court. The courtroom must be sterile,” the judge explained.

Following this clarification, Doktif specifically drew attention to Richard Lee’s appearance, expressing suspicion that the defendant was wearing a wig to disguise his looks. “The defendant (Richard Lee) is wearing a wig, Your Honour. To my knowledge, this makes him unrecognisable,” Doktif stated.

Despite the protest, the judge did not take issue with Lee’s appearance, asserting that the defendant was still recognisable during the proceedings. “I believe he is still recognisable,” the judge ruled. The decision was met with relief by Richard Lee’s legal team, who expressed gratitude to the panel for their wise handling of the matter. “Thank you, Your Honour, for your wisdom,” said Richard Lee’s attorney, Faizal Hafied.
