Witness: Confinement Victim Never Left Boarding Room for Three Months
A boarding house keeper named Resa Rohendi has revealed that the victim of an alleged confinement and abuse case, identified by the initials YTR (29), was almost never seen leaving her room. This situation persisted for three months while she lived at the boarding house in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency. Resa, interviewed in Bandung on Tuesday (23/6/2026), stated that the victim first arrived at the location with the perpetrator already having difficulty walking. She had to be assisted by the perpetrator when entering the room. “When they first arrived, she was already struggling to walk, she was supported by him (the perpetrator) into the room. During the three months here, she was also almost never seen going out,” she said. She explained that the couple had come to rent a room and claimed to be husband and wife. The management then asked them to show their marriage certificate in accordance with the rules applicable to married residents. However, the document was never presented after more than a month of occupying the room. Resa recounted that initially the suspect did not display suspicious behaviour, until his attitude changed after some time. The perpetrator often behaved arrogantly towards people around him. “At first he was fine. But after a month, his behaviour became arrogant. He would get angry at people passing by without permission, and even his wife was often scolded when someone came to repair the tower,” she said. According to her, the boarding house management became concerned because the suspect frequently got angry for no apparent reason, raising fears he might disturb other residents or the surrounding community. Meanwhile, the West Java Regional Police have formed a special task force to hunt down the suspected perpetrator, who is still being sought. West Java Police Head of Public Relations, Police Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, said the joint team was established to accelerate the investigation and arrest of the suspect. “Yes, we have formed a special, joint team. God willing, we hope it will be resolved soon,” he said. In addition to pursuing the perpetrator, investigators are also examining several witnesses, including his ex-wife. Based on preliminary examination results, the suspect’s ex-wife admitted to having experienced similar treatment, although not as severe as what the victim YTR endured. The West Java Police confirmed that the investigation and search for the alleged perpetrator will continue until an arrest is made, while also thoroughly uncovering the reported confinement and abuse.
