Prosecutors presented Alexander Vidi Firdaus, Director of PT Dell Indonesia (Dell), as a witness in the trial of alleged corruption in the procurement of Chromebook laptops and Chrome Device Management (CDM). Alex admitted that PT Dell had never produced or sold Chromebooks before the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) procurement.

Alex made the statement while testifying at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Tuesday (24/2/2026). The defendants in the trial are Mulyatsyah, Director of Junior Secondary Schools at Kemendikbudristek in 2020; Sri Wahyuningsih, Director of Primary Schools at the Directorate General of Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary Education in 2020–2021; and Ibrahim Arief, also known as Ibam, a consultant.

“In your statement, point 8: ‘To my knowledge, PT Dell Indonesia has never sold Chromebook laptops prior to the procurement from the Ministry of Education’?” the prosecutor asked after reading Alex’s examination report.

“That is correct,” Alex replied.

“So you had never previously sold Chromebooks?” the prosecutor asked.

“Never,” Alex replied.

“Only at the time of the procurement?” the prosecutor asked.

“Based on the documents I have read, only at the time of the procurement,” Alex replied.

Alex stated that the components used for the Chromebook laptops sold by PT Dell were manufactured in China. He said the total number of Chromebook laptops produced in 2021 was 110,812 units.

“According to your examination report: ‘From March to June 2021, to our distributors — PT Chis received 20,000 units, PT Virtus 80,000 units, and PT Gyra 10,812 units. The total number of laptops sold was 110,812 units.’ Is that correct?” the prosecutor asked.

“Correct, in accordance with the examination report,” Alex replied.

The prosecutor also read out Alex’s examination report regarding the total sales value for the 110,812 Chromebook laptop units, which amounted to Rp 358.5 billion.

“The total sales here are Rp 358,592,087,000 for 110,812 units?” the prosecutor asked.

“Correct,” Alex replied.

Previously, the indictment hearing for Mulyatsyah, Sri and Ibam was held on Tuesday (16/12/2025). Prosecutors charged the three with causing Rp 2.1 trillion in state financial losses in the case.

Prosecutors stated that the Rp 2.1 trillion in calculated state losses comprised Rp 1,567,888,662,716.74 (Rp 1.5 trillion) from inflated Chromebook laptop prices, and USD 44,054,426 or approximately Rp 621,387,678,730 (Rp 621 billion) from CDM procurement deemed unnecessary and of no benefit.

“The state financial losses of Rp 1,567,888,662,716.74 are based on the audit report calculating state financial losses in the alleged corruption case involving the education digitalisation programme at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology from 2019 to 2022, report number PE.03.03/SR/SP-920/D6/02/2025 dated 4 November 2025, from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Prosecutor Roy Riady while reading the indictment at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court.
