Without PSI Support in Facing JK, Grace Natalie: That Was My Request to the Party

Grace Natalie has spoken out regarding the stance of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), which did not provide legal assistance in the case of alleged editing of a sermon by Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK). Citing detikNews, the party’s position was previously revealed by PSI’s Daily Chairman, Ahmad Ali. Grace Natalie explained that PSI’s decision was her own request. “As the party founder, I instructed the Daily Chairman, in this case Bang Ahmad Ali, not to involve the party,” Grace said during a press conference in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, on Monday (11/5/2026). The PSI Board of Trustees Secretary also stressed that the JK video post was made in her personal name. She is also convinced that there was no violation in her video. Therefore, Grace assessed that there is no connection between the issue and PSI. “I did upload my material on my social media as an individual citizen, and I am confident, I am optimistic that there is no legal violation there, so it has nothing to do with PSI, and the statement is perfectly normal,” Grace stated. Grace admitted to being open to communicating with JK. She also claimed to be ready to take responsibility for the video. “As a good citizen, I am ready to take responsibility, and I am optimistic that there is no legal violation there,” Grace remarked. As is known, Grace and two others were reported by a coalition of 40 Islamic community organisations (ormas) to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri). The report concerns the alleged editing of JK’s sermon at the Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Mosque some time ago. The report was registered under number LP/B/185/V/2026/SPKT/BARESKRIM POLRI dated 4 May 2026. “The police report we made with the respondents Mr Ade Armando, Permadi Arya, and Grace Natalie has been received by the police, and we have received the police report receipt letter,” said representative of LBH Hidayatullah, Syaefullah Hamid, to reporters at Bareskrim Polri, South Jakarta, on Monday (4/5/2026).
