Without Mojtaba, 3 Sons of Ali Khamenei Attend Funeral Ceremony in Tehran

The sons of Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, were seen attending the funeral ceremony. However, his son who is now the successor to Iran’s leadership, Mojtaba, was not present due to security reasons. According to Al-Jazeera, three of Khamenei’s sons—Masoud, Meysam, and Mostafa—attended the funeral prayers for the late Iranian supreme leader. IRGC Commander Ahmad Vahidi also participated. Mojtaba did not attend the large ceremony. He was absent because Iran assessed there was a security risk amid Israeli threats to kill him. Khamenei’s body was prayed over, with hundreds of thousands of worshippers following the funeral prayers. Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani, one of the most senior religious figures in Iran, led the prayers for the fallen Khamenei and four of his family members. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Chairman of the Iranian Consultative Assembly Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and Head of Iran’s Judiciary Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei were seen following the prayers. IRGC Quds Force Commander Esmail Qaani also took part. In addition to Khamenei’s body, funeral prayers were also held for his 14-month-old granddaughter, Zahra Mohammadi Golpayegani, who was killed in the US-Israeli attack. Video from the Tasnim news agency showed a small coffin placed next to her grandfather’s coffin during the procession. The news agency reported that her father, Mohammad Javad Mohammadi Golpayegani, also attended the prayers. Zahra’s mother, Boshra Khamenei, had been killed in the same attack.
