The Task Force for the Eradication of Illegal Financial Activities (Satgas Pasti) has halted 27 private pawnshop entities operating without a licence. This enforcement action is part of efforts to eradicate illegal financial activities and handle financial transaction fraud as a measure of consumer and public protection. “Throughout April to May 2026, Satgas Pasti has stopped the business activities of 27 private pawnshop entities that are unlicensed or illegal,” said Hudiyanto, Secretariat of the Task Force for the Eradication of Illegal Financial Activities, in an official statement on Monday (22/6). The closure and cessation of these illegal private pawnshop activities were carried out based on Law Number 4 of 2023 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (UU P2SK). The pawnshop companies whose operations were halted include Gadai 99 (Pusat Gadai) Manado, Dana Gadai Sejahtera in Manado, Jasa Titip Langsung Cair in Manado, Menerima Gadai Gorontalo, Gadai Gemoy in Gorontalo, and others. Hudiyanto stressed that, in accordance with Article 319 of the P2SK Law, all pawnshop business operators are required to fulfil licensing requirements no later than 12 January 2026. Illegal private pawnshop activities have the potential to cause public losses given the imposition of high interest rates and unclear agreements. “As well as weak protection for collateral goods and consumers,” said Hudiyanto. Satgas Pasti and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) urge the public to be wary of investment offers or activities that promise high, guaranteed returns generated in a short time. They also advise verifying the legality of business actors and financial service products through OJK’s official channels (Contact 157). The public is also asked not to easily trust offers conveyed through private messages, social media, or links with unclear sources. They should immediately report any indications of illegal financial activities to sipasti.ojk.go.id and report financial transaction fraud to iasc.ojk.go.id. Hudiyanto added that his party has also halted the business activities of hundreds of illegal digital financial asset traders (PAKD). The task force, coordinated by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), stated that crypto asset trading activities can only be conducted by parties that have been registered and hold an official licence from OJK. Based on provisions in OJK Regulation Number 27 of 2024, the Crypto Asset List (DAK) is determined by the Crypto Exchange. Hudiyanto noted that recently, unlicensed entities offering crypto asset investments through social media, chat groups, or websites without official authorisation have become increasingly rampant. The modes used generally promise fixed returns, multiple bonuses, and the lure of risk-free passive income, without adequate consumer protection mechanisms. “Throughout January to May 2026, Satgas Pasti has stopped the business activities of 228 illegal digital financial asset traders (PAKD), or whose activities do not comply with statutory provisions,” he explained.
