Without Government Projects, PT Pos Indonesia's Revenue Plummets 62.5%
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - PT Pos Indonesia has admitted it remains heavily reliant on government projects to support its financial performance.
President Director of PT Pos Indonesia, Daud Joseph, stated that throughout 2025, the company recorded operating revenue of Rp3.9 trillion, a 20% drop compared to the Rp5 trillion achieved in 2024.
“From the year’s target of Rp6.2 trillion, only about 63% was achieved. Consequently, the gross profit target of Rp2.4 trillion was not met, reaching only Rp1.5 trillion,” Daud said during a hearing with Commission VI of the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Monday (22/6/2026).
As a result, EBITDA or net income fell far short of the Rp800 billion target, reaching only Rp300 billion.
The most significant decline occurred in the logistics business portfolio, which dropped from Rp2 trillion in the previous year to just Rp600 billion.
“We see this is because there are no more food distribution programmes, rice distribution programmes, and so on. However, courier logistics services or logistics for items under 30 kilogrammes have remained steady at Rp1.8 trillion,” he noted.
Meanwhile, financial services such as pensions, credit, and bill payment transfers have also held steady at Rp1.2 trillion. Property services, although showing an increase compared to the previous year, still contributed only a small portion.
“These reports are based on unaudited financial statements, which are currently still in the audit process. We will submit the audited reports once they are completed,” he concluded.
Joseph explained that over the past five years, the company’s financial performance had been in the black, buoyed by government projects. In 2020, PT Pos Indonesia generated revenue of Rp5.4 trillion. From 2020 to 2025, the company’s revenue continued to rise alongside the increasing contribution of government projects.
“The contribution from government project assistance, whether social assistance, rice aid, or food aid distributed to the public, supported and boosted Pos Indonesia’s revenue,” he said.
On the other hand, Joseph revealed that the company has also lost its grip on core service niches, including logistics, financial services, courier services, and even property services.
“This is evident as in 2025, when government project assistance dropped to Rp300 billion, total revenue immediately plunged to just Rp3.9 trillion,” he stated.
According to him, PT Pos Indonesia has been greatly assisted by government projects and has not yet been able to return to its core business potential.
