BOGOR, KOMPAS.com — The KaBogor electric bus service, launched by the Bogor Regency Government, is touted as an environmentally friendly transport alternative for the public. However, its operation on general lanes makes the bus’s speed highly dependent on traffic conditions, potentially disrupting journey punctuality. Currently, the KaBogor electric bus still operates on the same public lanes as other vehicles. This makes the bus’s movement highly reliant on on-site traffic conditions. The KaBogor electric bus service passes through the Bojonggede Market area, which is crowded with street vendors and vehicles parked on the roadside, often causing journeys to be delayed. Head of the Traffic Division of the Bogor Regency Transportation Office, Dadang Kosasih, stated that the local government is still striving to keep the service optimal despite these limitations. Dadang said that amid unpredictable traffic conditions, maintaining schedule accuracy is a particular challenge. “We are committed to keeping the schedule consistent. However, due to the dynamic nature of traffic in the area, the Transportation Office is also preparing a flexible departure time system that adjusts to field conditions, without reducing service certainty for users,” Dadang said in a WhatsApp message on Thursday (9/4/2026). Dadang also mentioned that in the future, they are open to implementing dedicated lanes to improve the smoothness of electric bus operations. However, that plan is still in the study phase and requires careful consideration, especially regarding road space availability. “However, its realisation will certainly depend on road space availability and coordination with relevant agencies. So, for now, we are still maximising efficiency on the existing mixed lanes,” he continued. To ensure the service runs as expected, they rely on a monitoring system that includes evaluating operational performance and passenger satisfaction. On the other hand, service development is also being prepared through plans to add more vehicles and expand routes. “Route expansion and fleet addition are part of the medium-term development plan,” he said. Transportation observer Dedy Herlambang assesses that operating the electric bus mixed with general vehicles makes it difficult to escape congestion. According to him, without dedicated lanes, the bus will face the same traffic conditions as other vehicles, thus impacting service punctuality.
