Withdraw money from idle parties

PAMEKASAN, East Java: The local representative of the
University Network for Free and Fair Elections (Unfrel) urged the
regent here on Friday to withdraw money the government granted to
political parties which do not campaign.

Unfrel local chief representative Zef Rizal said only
Golkar, Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan),
Star Crescent Party (PBB), National Awakening Party (PKB),
National Mandate Party (PAN) and United Development Party (PPP)
have been campaigning.

Other parties which have branch offices in Pamekasan have not
done any campaigning for unknown reasons, he told Antara.

In a petition filed with the regent on Wednesday, Unfrel also
criticized the local election supervisory committee of shutting
its eyes to numerous breaches of campaigning rules by various
parties.

"Unfrel urges the supervisory committee to take legal action
against campaigners who insulted rival parties," Rizal said.
