With WFH and Energy-Saving Policies, Public Can Save Rp 59 Trillion on Fuel
The government has announced policies on national work culture transformation and energy management. These policies are expected to save state budget expenditure and public spending, as stated during an online press conference on Tuesday evening (31/3/2026). The government has officially implemented work from home (WFH) once a week for civil servants (ASN), specifically on Fridays, to anticipate the ripple effects of conflicts in the Middle East, effective from 1 April 2026. The government has also issued technical regulations regarding the one-day-a-week WFH policy for certain sectors. βThe potential savings to the APBN [State Budget] amount to Rp 6.2 trillion in fuel compensation savings, while the total public fuel expenditure is saved at Rp 59 trillion,β said Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto during the online press conference on Tuesday evening (31/3/2026).
