The government through the Rapid Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force for Post-Disaster (Satgas PRR) has begun disbursing a range of assistance programmes to support the recovery of the economic livelihoods of communities affected by floods in Sumatra. The support is expected to ease the burden on residents still struggling to recover and to provide fresh hope ahead of Eid al-Fitr. To help communities reorganise their lives, the PRR Task Force is not only rehabilitating infrastructure and providing temporary housing but also arranging a range of social assistance for affected residents. The assistance comprises the Social Economic Stimulus Aid (BSSE) of Rp 5 million and the Housing Filling Aid (BIH) of Rp 3 million provided per family to complete basic household needs. In addition, a living allowance (jadup) of Rp 450,000 per person per month for three months is provided to help residents meet daily needs during the recovery period. The government has prepared a budget of up to Rp 878.68 billion, comprising Rp 543.09 billion for the social-economic stimulus and housing filling aid, and Rp 335.59 billion for the living allowances. The funds will be disbursed to 67,886 validated recipient heads of households (KPM). The chair of Satgas PRR, who is also the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, together with Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf, symbolically handed over the aid during his visit to Banda Aceh on Friday, 6 March 2026. The social aid distribution is being carried out in two phases through PT Pos Indonesia. Moreover, there are 143,496 beneficiaries who are part of validated heads of households for the living allowance programme. In the first phase, the living allowances disbursed amounted to Rp 193.72 billion. “There will be a subsequent wave,” said the Minister of Home Affairs as he closed the Khanduri Nuzulul Quran Aceh Ramadan Festival 2026 at the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque complex, Banda Aceh, on Friday, 6 March 2026. Distribution of aid across three provinces In detail, Aceh Province received aid totalling Rp 450.77 billion for 35,085 beneficiary families. The aid comprised Rp 175.43 billion for the social-economic stimulus and Rp 105.26 billion for housing filling, in addition to Rp 170.09 billion for living allowances. North Sumatra will also receive aid totalling Rp 82.81 billion for 3,676 beneficiary families. The funds comprise Rp 18.38 billion for the social-economic stimulus and Rp 11.03 billion for housing filling. Meanwhile, living allowances are provided to 39,557 beneficiaries drawn from the validated family data, with a total budget of Rp 53.4 billion. Finally, in West Sumatra the government disbursed aid totalling Rp 43.44 billion for 3,539 beneficiary families. The funds were allocated for the social-economic stimulus of Rp 17.7 billion and housing filling aid of Rp 10.62 billion. Meanwhile, living allowances are provided to 11,206 beneficiaries with a total budget of Rp 15.13 billion. Social Minister Saifullah, commonly known as Gus Ipul, targets that the distribution can reach the community in full before Eid al-Fitr, as he aims to ease the burden with these assistance. “All the support is extraordinary. We hope this will become an inseparable part of the recovery process so that Aceh will be whole again, better than before,” said Gus Ipul as he accompanied Tito on his visit to Aceh. The Ministry of Social Affairs is one of the ministries that are part of Satgas PRR. The coordination of the task force is vital in the transition process toward the recovery phase after the floods in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. The collaboration between the Ministry of Social Affairs and the PRR Task Force, led by Tito Karnavian, in distributing various adaptive social assistance, is a concrete manifestation of President Prabowo Subianto’s directive when he appointed Tito Karnavian as the Task Force head in January 2026. This collaboration ensures that aid can be distributed quickly, accurately targeted, and coordinated to accelerate the recovery of affected communities back to normal. “In his capacity as the Minister of Home Affairs, the President has considerations and believes that under the Minister of Home Affairs coordination can be better managed,” said Secretary to the President Prasetyo Hadi on Tuesday, 6 January 2026.
