With retail KKI, Bank Mega ready to accelerate credit card business
PT Bank Mega Tbk is ready to seize the momentum created by the arrival of the retail-segment Kartu Kredit Indonesia (KKI) to strengthen its credit card business penetration while delivering an increasingly easy and convenient digital transaction experience for customers.
As one of the first movers in KKI, Bank Mega can expand its ecosystem and increase sales volume, customer acquisition, and engagement through payment products and services that are relevant to the needs of the public.
“Going forward, Bank Mega is committed to continuing to be part of the transformation of the national payment system, delivering innovations that provide tangible benefits for customers, while creating sustainable business growth for Bank Mega and the Indonesian economy,” said IT & Operations Director YB Hariantono in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Furthermore, Bank Mega’s participation as a KKI first mover is part of its support for the development of a payment system that is increasingly integrated, secure, efficient, and based on national infrastructure.
KKI has been developed as a credit-based payment instrument with domestic processing.
For Bank Mega, involvement in this initiative represents support for efforts to build independence and resilience in the national financial ecosystem, while strengthening the banking industry’s role in delivering payment innovations that suit the needs of the public and the development of Indonesia’s digital economy.
The company said that the development of KKI is also in line with efforts to expand the use of non-cash payment instruments and encourage transactions that are more secure, efficient, and transparent.
Previously, on Monday (17/8/2026), coinciding with the 81st anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia, Bank Indonesia (BI) together with the Indonesian Payment System Association (ASPI) launched KKI for the retail segment or the general public as an alternative domestic deferred payment method.
The development of KKI is also supported by the Indonesian Credit Card Association (AKKI) and Payment System Infrastructure Issuers and Providers (PIP).
At the launch, Bank Mega was represented by YB Hariantono together with Bank Mega Credit Card Unsecured Loan (CCUL) Product & Portfolio Head Yan Adisesha Gandhi.
The implementation of KKI was launched as an alternative domestic payment instrument that is efficient, prudent, and integrated with the national payment system infrastructure.
KKI was previously only issued for the government segment, intended for central and regional government work units to support government spending transactions.
Now, KKI can be used by individuals and corporations, both for conventional and sharia services, in accordance with the products provided by the issuing payment service provider (PJP).
KKI differs from international principal credit cards. KKI is processed domestically through the National Payment System Infrastructure, whereas international principal credit cards use processing schemes from international principals.
