With Prabowo, JK Discusses Rp70 Trillion Investment for Energy Development

Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla, accompanied by his son Solihin Kalla, met with President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta. JK explained that the meeting covered several matters, notably energy self-sufficiency to support economic growth of 8 percent. “We see that to achieve growth of 5-6 percent up to 8 percent, we need an extraordinarily large amount of energy. Without that energy, it will be difficult to boost growth,” JK stated during a press conference on Thursday, 11 June 2026. JK noted that energy development constitutes a business venture requiring investment of tremendous value. He mentioned that President Prabowo had approved the realisation of developments related to energy. “Of course, this relates to development. Development must have a business aspect because of the investment, a large investment. We discussed an investment of approximately Rp60-70 trillion, and we are capable of executing it,” he said. “The design is ready, the location is available, we are just awaiting technical discussions. And the President has agreed for us to realise this promptly. It is indeed a business matter due to the investment,” he added.
