With Prabowo, JK Discusses Rp70 Trillion Investment for Energy Development

The 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK), met with President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta. JK was accompanied by his son, Solihin Kalla, during the meeting.

JK explained that the meeting covered several issues, including energy self-sufficiency to support 8% economic growth. “Because we see that to achieve growth from 5-6% up to 8%, an extraordinary amount of energy is required. Without energy, it will be difficult for us to increase that,” JK stated during a press conference on Thursday, 11 June 2026.

JK noted that energy development is a business endeavour that requires massive investment. He mentioned that President Prabowo has agreed to realise development projects within the energy sector.

“Of course, this is related to development. Development must include a business aspect because of the large-scale investment. We are talking about an investment of approximately Rp60-70 trillion, and we are capable of executing it,” he revealed.

“The design is ready, the locations are identified, and we are now moving into technical discussions. The President has agreed that we should realise this immediately. It is indeed a business matter due to the scale of the investment,” he added.
