JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Deputy General Chairman of PSI Ronald A. Sinaga, alias Bro Ron, embraced the man who struck him, Muhammad Rizal Berhet, after both parties agreed to resolve the matter peacefully. At a press conference at the Menteng Metro Police Sector in Central Jakarta on Thursday afternoon (7/5/2026), Bro Ron appeared wearing a white medical plaster on his right cheek, dressed in batik attire. The white rectangular plaster was affixed to his right cheek, serving as a trace of the wound from the assault at the MPP law firm office in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Monday (4/5/2026). He emphasised that the brawl was purely due to miscommunication and not an intention to be hostile. “What happened in the field can be said to be 100 percent miscommunication after understanding the sequence of events—why we were there, why there was Bang Randi (another assailant), why there was Bang Ical (Rizal). It turns out we were there not to be enemies. Pure miscommunication,” Bro Ron stated at the Menteng Metro Police Sector in Central Jakarta on Thursday. He admitted receiving information from many parties who wanted the case to proceed. However, he chose not to prolong the legal process and apologised to the assailants. “My decision is to make peace, to accept the request for us to embrace each other, to forgive one another, and not to continue this case. Indeed, many hope the legal case continues, but that is not my goal. In the end, we add to our brotherhood,” he said. Menteng Metro Police Chief AKBP Braiel Rondonuwu confirmed that the resolution of this violence case would be handled through restorative justice mechanisms. Central Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Chief AKBP Roby Heri Saputra added that investigators are processing the Order to Stop Investigation (SP3) to be submitted to the court. Meanwhile, Muhammad Rizal Berhet and Randi, the assailants, also clarified information regarding alleged racist remarks directed at them. The assailants’ legal team, Tegar Putuhena, confirmed that there were words indicative of racism uttered by Bro Ron. However, he stated that the context was not related to racism, but merely an expression during a heated and emotional situation.
