President RI held a meeting with the board of commissioners and directors of the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara) at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (18/6/2026). During the meeting, the Head of State affirmed the strategic role of Himbara banks for national economic growth. In his remarks following the meeting, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming and CEO of Danantara, Rosan Perkass Roeslani, explained that the combined market capitalisation of all Himbara banks could reach IDR 1,100 trillion. According to him, this figure reflects approximately 10 per cent of the value of all national companies. “The value of Himbara banks, for example Bank Mandiri, is approximately IDR 450 trillion. This is based on market capitalisation on the stock exchange,” Rosan told the press. “Then BNI is slightly above IDR 450 trillion, followed by BRI at almost IDR 200 trillion, and also BSI and BTN. So if you add them up, the value is around IDR 1,100 trillion, which represents 10 per cent of the entire capital market value or the total value of Indonesian companies,” Rosan stated. Seeing this potential, Rosan said that according to President Prabowo’s directive, Himbara’s presence should be viewed not only as a business entity but also as an active contributor providing benefits to the community. This includes providing equality and opportunity for all levels of society, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). “Banking should not solely pursue profit, but its presence must also be felt by the community, by the people, in the form of providing equality and opportunity for all layers, from MSMEs to commercial and corporate entities,” Rosan explained.
