With an Export Authority, Prabowo Will Receive Rp2.653 Trillion Per Year
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo Subianto has formally announced the establishment of an export authority that will act as Indonesia’s sole exporter. The export authority, to be regulated under a Government Regulation on the Governance of Export of Natural Resource Commodity, aims to curb the revenue leakage that has persisted, with a target to generate US150billionperyear, equivalenttoRp2.65392trillion(exchangerateRp17, 692perUS).
“We have calculated the potential to recover from that leakage at US$150 billion every year. Whether we are able to achieve it depends on our boldness, resolve, and our ability to cooperate well,” Prabowo said during a speech at the Parliament Building in Jakarta, on Wednesday (20/5/2026).
With the export body managed by a state-owned enterprise (BUMN), he emphasised that all foreign sales of natural resource products, from crude palm oil, coal, iron, to ferro alloys, will be centralised.
“We mandate that sales must be conducted through a government-designated state-owned enterprise as the sole exporter, meaning every export product will be channelled to the state-owned enterprise assigned by the government to the relevant business operator,” he asserted.
Under the new export mechanism, Prabowo believes all business fraud that has hoarded Indonesia’s wealth abroad amounting to US$343 billion or Rp6,069.04 trillion over 22 years can be stemmed, thus supporting stronger state revenue.
Fraud practices that could be curbed by the policy include under invoicing, under accounting, transfer pricing, and foreign exchange outflows of export proceeds (DHE).
“Brothers and sisters, this policy will optimise tax collection and state revenue from the management of our natural resources. With this policy we hope our revenue can resemble that of Mexico, the Philippines, and neighbouring countries,” Prabowo said.
“We do not want our revenue to be the lowest because we are not brave enough to manage our own property, our nation’s own property,” he added.
