KOMPAS.com - Persija Jakarta winger, Witan Sulaeman, is grateful to have received another call-up from the Indonesian national team.

He said that this call-up motivates him to work harder on the field so that he can be selected to defend the Garuda squad under coach John Herdman.

Witan is one of four Macan Kemayoran players who received a call-up to participate in the training camp (TC) ahead of the FIFA Matchday in June.

The other three players are Shayne Pattynama, Fajar Fathurrahman, and Eksel Runtukahu.

This call-up marks his first after a year and a half since Witan last represented the Merah Putih team.

Witan played for 14 minutes in the home match against Japan at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) on November 15, 2024.

However, he was an unused player in the match against Saudi Arabia at the same location, four days later.

The former AS Trencin player welcomed this with enthusiasm and gratitude.

“Of course, I am very grateful and also very proud to receive another call-up to the National Team,” said Witan after the match against Persik Kediri at Brawijaya Stadium, Kediri, Saturday (16/5/2026).

“That means I also have to work even harder, I have to show my abilities to this new coach.”

“Hopefully, I can show that and hopefully I can play for the National Team again,” he hoped.

Throughout the 2025-2026 Super League season, Witan has not received much playing time.
