Wisma BNI 46 gets bomb hoax

JAKARTA: About 500 people were evacuated from Jakarta's landmark BNI building on Jl. Sudirman after a bomb threat was received at 8:45 a.m on Wednesday.

The Jakarta Police bomb squad declared the threat a hoax two hours later, allowing workers to return to the 50-story building.

The threat was telephoned in to telephone operator PT Buana Bina Mega Sakti, which leases the 32nd floor.

Last month, the Bank BNI Card Center in the building received a similar threat.

Office worker Deni said that most people did not believe a bomb was planted in the building.

"We have received many bomb hoaxes but none have actually involved real bombs."

On Tuesday, Wisma Kyoei Prince on Jl. Sudirman was targeted by another bomb hoax. -- JP
