Wiraraja Group and Polythene UK Sign £50 Million Joint Venture Agreement
PT Wiraraja Indonesia and Polythene UK Ltd officially signed a joint venture agreement worth approximately £50 million, or Rp1.17 trillion, at the Indonesian Embassy in London on Monday (29/6/2026). The agreement marks a new milestone in strengthening economic cooperation between Indonesia and the United Kingdom in the sustainable manufacturing sector.
The partnership focuses on investment, technology transfer, and the development of value-added industries, aiming to bolster national industrial competitiveness while supporting Indonesia’s downstream processing and industrialisation agenda. The signing was the culmination of a series of business visits by PT Wiraraja Indonesia to the UK that began on 23 June 2026, during which the company held meetings with manufacturing industry players to explore investment and strategic cooperation opportunities in Indonesia.
The exploration process leading to the agreement was facilitated by the Indonesian Embassy in London and the Indonesia Investment Promotion Centre (IIPC) London, under the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, as part of efforts to boost investment and strengthen bilateral economic ties between Indonesia and the United Kingdom.
Indonesian Ambassador to the UK, Ireland, and the IMO, Desra Percaya, stated that the signing reflects the growing trust between business actors from both nations. “This signing reflects the strengthening trust between Indonesian and British business actors, as well as a shared commitment to building a long-term partnership that provides added value for both countries,” he said in an official statement on Tuesday (30/6/2026).
The agreement also serves as a concrete implementation of the UK–Indonesia New Strategic Partnership, which enhances bilateral cooperation in the economy, trade, and investment. Private sector collaboration is expected to strengthen industrial supply chains, accelerate technology transfer, create jobs, and promote sustainable industrial development in Indonesia.
Akhmad Ma’ruf Maulana, President Director of PT Galang Bumi Industri and Chairman of the Indonesian Industrial Estates Association (HKI), said the cooperation with Polythene UK Ltd is the beginning of the company’s international investment agenda with its partners. He added that after completing the agenda in London, the delegation will continue its business mission to Russia and China to explore new investment opportunities aimed at strengthening Indonesia’s industrial sector.
“After the UK, we will continue our agenda to Russia and China. God willing, we will also secure investment commitments from both countries. We ask for your prayers and support so that this entire mission series runs smoothly and brings benefits to strengthening Indonesia’s industry and economy,” said Akhmad Ma’ruf Maulana.
The Indonesian Embassy in London affirmed it will continue to facilitate economic cooperation and business partnerships between Indonesian and British business actors to expand investment opportunities in priority sectors and strengthen bilateral economic relations sustainably. The continuation of the investment mission to Russia and China is expected to broaden Indonesia’s international partnership network while opening opportunities for new investments that support national industrial growth, job creation, and increased domestic value addition.
