Wiranto to attend Christmas in Dili

DILI, East Timor: Army Chief of Staff Gen. Wiranto is
scheduled to attend a Christmas celebration today in East Timor,
the chief organizer said over the weekend.

"Wiranto's presence in the planned celebration is to represent
Armed Forces Commander General Feisal Tanjung," said Abel de
Fatima as quoted by Antara Sunday.

Wiranto and Air Force Chief of Staff Marshall Sutria Tubagus
were named to stand in Feisal's place because the latter had to
visit other regions.

Fatima said preparations at the venue, which is the office of
Governor Abilio Soareas, had been completed.

Wiranto and Tubagus, accompanied by several high-ranking
officials from the Armed Forces Headquarters, will arrive at
Comoro Airport this afternoon. (swe)
