Wiranto and Pramono Anung Pay Respects at Try Sutrisno's Family Home

Jakarta – Special Adviser to the President for Political and Security Affairs Wiranto paid respects at the residence of Try Sutrisno, Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Monday, 2 March 2026.

According to observations at the scene, Wiranto arrived at the residence before Try Sutrisno’s body, arriving at approximately 09:20 Western Indonesia Time. Try Sutrisno’s body arrived at the residence at approximately 09:23 Western Indonesia Time. Subsequently, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung was observed arriving at the residence at around 09:44 Western Indonesia Time. Also present at the residence was the Head of BPIP Yudian Wahyudi.

According to plan, Try Sutrisno’s body will be washed at the RSPAD family residence and brought to the residence at Jalan Purwakarta Number 6, Menteng, Central Jakarta, for the lying-in-state. The funeral prayer will be held at Sunda Kelapa Mosque, after which he will be buried at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery.

Try Sutrisno served as Indonesia’s sixth Vice President while accompanying President Suharto from 1993 to 1998. He was admitted to the Military Engineering Academy in 1956. Try Sutrisno first became acquainted with Suharto during the West Irian Liberation Operation in 1962. In 1974, he was selected to serve as presidential aide to President Suharto.

In August 1985, Try Sutrisno was promoted to Lieutenant General in the Indonesian Armed Forces and appointed Deputy Commander of the Army Staff, serving alongside Army Commander General Rudini. Subsequently, the People’s Consultative Assembly from 1992 to 1997 elected Try Sutrisno as Vice President alongside Suharto through its General Session in 1993. His service as Vice President ended in 1998 and was succeeded by B.J. Habibie during the General Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly.
