Winners of essay contest on South Korea announced
JAKARTA (JP): The Embassy of South Korea announced yesterday the names of the 20 Indonesian students who won its essay writing contest on Korea.
The winners, consisting of 10 university students and 10 senior high schools students, were selected from 2,521 participants from the country's 27 provinces.
Sidik Pramono from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and Rahmi Aminingsih from state senior high school SMU 1 in Bogor took first place in their university and high school categories.
Sidik, with his essay Kekaguman atawa mukjijat (Admiration or miracle), and Rahmi, with her work Persamaan dan perbedaan tidak mengubah persahabatan (Similarities and differences do not affect friendship), won Rp 2 million (US$851) and a certificate each.
In the university category, second prize went to Diki Septanto from ITB, while three students won prizes for third place: Ihsan from the University of Indonesia, Teguh Santoso and Wawan Budianta, both from Gadjah Mada University.
Fourth prize was won by five students: Dwi R.K. Holida from Jember University, Djoko Riyanto from Padjajaran University, Immanuel Teja H. from ITB, George G. Sojang from Gadjah Mada University and Valentinus Irawan from Yogyakarta's Sanata Dharma University.
In the high school category, second place went to Olivia A. Suyadi from SMA 6 Bandung. Three people came in third: Jacqueline Sunardi, from SMA Semarang, Aditya Perdana from SMU 33 Jakarta and Budi Warsito from SMU 1 Solo, Central Java, collectively.
Fourth prize was won by Anton Rahmadi from SMA 1 Samarinda, East Kalimantan; Vika Halim from SMU Pelita Harapan, West Java; Rina P.N. from SMU 66 Jakarta; Anang Heri F. from SMU 1 Cepu, Central Java and Farah Athiah from SMU 8 Jakarta.
In addition to cash rewards of Rp 500,000 minimum and certificates, all of the winners will travel to the Republic of Korea. All winners in the high school category will get a week and university winners will visit for two weeks.
The awards will be delivered on Oct. 26 and the winners will leave for Korea on Oct. 27. (ste)
