Winners of city journalists awards

JAKARTA (JP): The city's journalists association, PWI Jaya,
has announced the winners in five categories of the newly-
established Mohamad Husni Thamrin Award.

The winners are Erlita Rachman of the Femina women's magazine,
for her article on the famous Blok M shopping center in South
Jakarta; Satrio of the Jayakarta daily, for an ironical piece
about legal certainty; Setiawan Nusa of the Antara news agency,
for his article about the rapid success of television soap operas
in this country; press photographer Luther Ulag of the Suara
Pembaruan daily, for his photo of a teenager and a beggar; and
the Kompas daily, for its editorial about a piece of land in
Lampung, Sumatra, which was to be bought for Rp 50 (US$0.02) per
square meter.

Minister of Information Harmoko is scheduled to present the
awards, together with Rp 1 million (US$452) in cash for each
winner, on Sunday evening at the Kartika Chandra hotel.

According to the association, the Mohamad Husni Thamrin Award,
named after the late independence war hero, is the most
prestigious award for Jakarta journalists.

The national award for Indonesian journalists is the Adinegoro
