Wings Air has opened a direct flight route from Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung to Radin Inten II International Airport in Lampung, in an effort to revive air connectivity deemed to have a broad impact on regional economic growth.

Corporate Communications Strategic of Wings Air, Danang Mandala Prihantoro, stated that the opening of the route is expected to restore Bandung’s position on the national aviation connectivity map, given the city’s reputation as a centre for education, tourism, and the economy in West Java.

“We hope the presence of this route will make it easier for the public to meet various travel needs, whether for business, tourism, education, or family purposes,” Danang said in Bandung on Thursday.

He explained that the Bandung–Lampung route uses ATR 72 aircraft with a frequency of three flights per week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Danang added that the Lion Group is also gradually preparing to open new routes to expand flight connectivity from Bandung.

“Starting tomorrow, Wings Air will also open a flight route from Bandung to Palembang, South Sumatra,” he said.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan welcomed the resumption of scheduled flights from Husein Airport through the opening of the Wings Air routes to Lampung and Palembang. “The Bandung City Government welcomes the commencement of Wings Air’s inaugural flight from Husein Airport to Lampung on 6 August, as well as the opening of the Bandung–Palembang route which will begin operating on 7 August,” he said.

Farhan expressed hope that the presence of these routes would mark the beginning of increased flight connectivity from Bandung to other regions in Indonesia and abroad. “We look forward to the opening of other regular flight schedules from various airlines, for both domestic and international routes,” he said.
