Wings Air has opened a direct service from Lede Kalumbang Airport, Tambolaka, to El Tari Airport, Kupang, both in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Corporate Communications Strategics of Wings Air, Danang Mandala Prihantoro, said the route will begin operations in June 2026, specifically on Thursday, 11 June 2026.

Based on Kompas.com’s monitoring of several online travel agents (OTAs), ticket prices for this Wings Air route in mid-June 2026 were observed to start from Rp 1.8 million.

The direct route is expected to take around one hour and thirty minutes, with a flight frequency of three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

“All flights on this route will be operated using ATR 72 aircraft with a capacity of 72 seats in economy class. This aircraft type is ideal for inter-island routes and airports in archipelagic regions such as Nusa Tenggara,” Danang said.

The return flight, with the flight number IW 1920, is scheduled to depart Tambolaka at 13:10 WITA and arrive in Kupang at 14:40 WITA.

With the introduction of this route, travellers can reach a range of other destinations. The following are some destinations connected to this flight route:

  • Flight connectivity via Kupang

  • Flight connectivity from Tambolaka via Bali and Lombok

Danang noted that the presence of the route offers benefits that are immediately felt by many groups.

“Population mobility becomes faster and more convenient, governmental activities and inter-regional official travel are more efficient, and business players have easier access to expand trade and distribution networks,” he said.

Meanwhile, for tourists, he continued, journeys to explore Sumba Island and various destinations in NTT are now simpler in a single connected air travel sequence.

Additionally, for the education and health services sectors, improved air connectivity also helps communities reach service centres located in other cities without having to undertake long land and sea travel.
