Wings Air Inaugural Bandung-Lampung Flight Takes Off
The inaugural Wings Air flight on the Bandung-Lampung route officially took off from Husein Sastranegara International Airport in Bandung on Thursday (6/8). The resumption of this scheduled flight was enthusiastically welcomed by the public, as it offers a more practical air transport option whilst strengthening connectivity between Bandung and the Sumatra region. The maiden flight, numbered IW1210, departed at approximately 13.50 WIB, serving the route from Husein Sastranegara International Airport to Radin Inten II International Airport in Lampung using an ATR 72 aircraft. This route marks the first scheduled flight to resume operations from Husein Sastranegara Airport. Danang Mandala Prihantoro, Corporate Communications Strategic of Wings Air, stated that the opening of this route is expected to make it easier for the public to travel for various purposes. ‘We hope the presence of this route will provide greater convenience for the public to meet various travel needs, whether for business, tourism, education, or family matters,’ he said. Danang added that the Lion Group is also gradually preparing to open new routes to expand flight connectivity from Bandung. Wings Air will next open a flight route from Bandung to Palembang, South Sumatra. Captain Ganda Barocta, the pilot of IW1210, reported that the inaugural flight proceeded smoothly and left a positive impression on the entire crew. ‘Our impression of today’s maiden flight is very interesting and exciting. Hopefully, this inaugural flight will be successful and more passengers will use this service,’ he explained. Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan welcomed the recommencement of scheduled flights from Husein Sastranegara Airport through the opening of the Wings Air routes to Lampung and Palembang. ‘The Bandung City Government welcomes the inaugural Wings Air flight from Husein Sastranegara Airport to Lampung, as well as the opening of the Bandung–Palembang route which will begin operating on 7 August,’ he said. He expressed hope that the presence of these routes would be the start of increased flight connectivity from Bandung to various regions in Indonesia and abroad. Enthusiasm was also evident among passengers. Ghilman, a resident of Tasikmalaya who joined the inaugural flight, expressed satisfaction with the service provided. ‘My impression is quite good. The flight was also on time, making the journey feel comfortable. I hope this route continues to operate and that more routes to various regions will be opened in the future to make travel easier for the public,’ he said.
