Windows Apple-Killer Laptop Emerges, Cheaper Than MacBook Neo
Dell has reduced the price of its premium Windows laptops to compete with Apple’s latest products. The XPS 13, launched at Computex 2026, is priced even lower than the MacBook Neo.
According to reports from PCMag at the event, Dell is bringing the XPS 13 with updated specifications, design, and more affordable pricing. The Dell XPS is known as one of the premier Windows devices and serves as a quality benchmark often compared to Apple’s MacBook lineup.
With this new pricing strategy—maintaining premium standards while becoming more accessible—the device is positioned as a formidable competitor to the MacBook Neo, which relies on the macOS ecosystem and Apple’s proprietary silicon performance.
Regarding the new pricing, the most significant change is in the price list. The 2026 version of the Dell XPS 13 starts at US$699 (approximately Rp 11.4 million), with an even lower price of US$599 (approximately Rp 9.7 million) available for students. This represents a drastic decrease compared to previous models, which consistently exceeded US$900 (Rp 16 million).
Meanwhile, its primary competitor, the Apple MacBook Neo launched last March, is officially sold starting from US$599 (approximately Rp 10.7 million) for the base 256 GB variant, and US$729 (approximately Rp 12.9 million) for the 512 GB variant.
This price reduction is a major surprise, considering the XPS 13 previously occupied the highest price bracket, often matching or exceeding Apple’s products in its category. This decision is viewed as a serious effort by Dell to seize market share currently dominated by Mac, particularly among professionals, creative workers, and users who prioritise design and material quality.
Although full technical specifications have not yet been fully released to the public, this move sends a clear signal to the industry: Windows-based laptops are becoming increasingly serious competitors to Apple, not just in terms of features, but also in the value offered to consumers.
The latest Dell XPS 13 is reported to retain its core characteristics, including an ultra-thin and lightweight body, a high-quality display with exceptional colour accuracy, and a robust chassis combining metal and glass.
On the other hand, the MacBook Neo is known for combining high power efficiency, extraordinary battery life, and seamless integration with other Apple devices. With the arrival of the more competitive new XPS 13, consumers now have a strong Windows-based alternative that offers luxury, high performance, and a vast ecosystem of software compatibility.
