This is a programme of President Prabowo Subianto, realised by Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services Agus Andrianto, and has been put into practical implementation in many prisons.

Sidoarjo, East Java (ANTARA) - Chairman of DPR RI Commission XIII, Willy Aditya, supports the implementation of the national food security programme in the correctional environment through the utilisation of unproductive land at Porong Class I Prison, Porong Subdistrict, Sidoarjo Regency.

The support was shown during the first harvest of sweetcorn in the Sarana Asimilasi dan Edukasi (SAE) Latubaya programme, together with the Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Correctional Services (Ditjenpas) for East Java, Kadiyono, and the Head of Surabaya Class I Prison, Sohibur Rachman.

“This is a programme of President Prabowo Subianto, realised by Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services Agus Andrianto, and has been realised as practical implementation in many prisons,” said Willy in Sidoarjo on Tuesday.

According to him, this programme can also serve as inspiration for developing local potential to reduce dependence on imports of several commodities.

In addition, Willy stated that the DPR RI will strengthen coordination with relevant ministries to map similar potentials in various regions, including plans to redevelop the pond sector in Lampung.

He explained that the land began to be planted with corn on 15 January 2026 after previously being left idle.

“The presence of legislative representatives shows synergy between the central and local governments in promoting correctional programmes that impact society,” he said.

Head of Surabaya Class I Prison, Sohibur Rachman, added that legislative support serves as motivation for the ranks to continue developing similar programmes.
