Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia revealed the government has not decided on providing incentives for the public as a result of the increase in non-subsidised fuel oil (BBM) prices, specifically Pertamax and Pertamax Green. However, he acknowledged that the government is currently conducting a study on providing incentives, though not directly linked to the Pertamax price hike. “We have no decision at all yet, we are still conducting a study,” Bahlil said when met at the Presidential Palace Complex on Thursday evening (11/6/2026). According to him, the government is carrying out various studies related to incentive alternatives. However, the government’s priority is the lower economic group. Meanwhile, he assessed that non-subsidised fuel users are generally people with far better economic capabilities than the underprivileged groups who still need to be subsidised. “What is important is that we protect our brothers and sisters in the lower economic bracket. This is a subsidy, while the non-subsidised ones are for our brothers and sisters who have far better economic capabilities than those who must be subsidised,” he said. If there are incentives, Bahlil stressed that they would be directed at maintaining purchasing power amidst the current shocks. Regarding the non-subsidised fuel price increase, Bahlil said this price hike adjusts to market prices. The calculation, Bahlil asserted, has been carried out wisely between PT Pertamina and other business entities, as well as business players.
