Every year in August, Indonesia commemorates Independence Day on the 17th, which the government designates as a national holiday. Referring to the Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB 3 Menteri) on National Holidays and Collective Leave for 2026, there is no collective leave day in August 2026. Only national holidays fall on 17 and 25 August.

Monday, 17 August 2026: Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia
Tuesday, 25 August 2026: Birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW)
Despite the absence of an official collective leave day, a long weekend occurs in August 2026. The Independence Day holiday on Monday, 17 August 2026, creates a long weekend when combined with the preceding Saturday and Sunday. Additionally, workers can take personal leave on Monday, 24 August 2026, to extend the Maulid Nabi holiday on Tuesday, 25 August, into a four-day break.
