Will the US Arm Israel with Massive Explosive Bombs?

WASHINGTON— The administration of US President Donald Trump plans to send weapons worth $2.8 billion to Israel.

The deal currently being prepared includes 40,000 bombs, each weighing 2,000 pounds or approximately 907 kilograms.

This information was reported by The Washington Post and Reuters, citing several United States officials.

According to a US official aware of the plan, the weapons package consists of 20,000 MK-84 bombs, known by the nickname “The Hammer”, 20,000 BLU-117 type bombs, and 20,000 A-2000 type bunker-buster warheads.

If approved, this deal would represent the largest shipment of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel, surpassing previous shipments during the administrations of both Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

The value also exceeds the $2.04 billion weapons deal approved in 2025 and bypasses the standard Congressional review procedures.

“The Hammer”, a destructive weapon

The MK-84 bomb is considered one of the most destructive conventional munitions in Western military arsenals.

Its explosion can scatter metal fragments over distances of thousands of feet. The bomb also possesses the capability to penetrate thick concrete and metal, creating massive craters.
