Will SPPG Get a Special Allocation of Subsidised Housing? Here's What BP Tapera Says

The Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) has been widely reported to receive a special allocation of subsidised housing. These houses are not provided for free, but SPPG employees are still required to pay them off through a Home Ownership Credit (KPR) scheme. In response to this rumour, BP Tapera Commissioner Heru Pudyo Nugroho has spoken out. Heru confirmed that there is no special allocation of subsidised housing for SPPG. “It’s the same as for others, depending on the interest from SPPG employees. There is no special allocation like that,” Heru said, quoted from Kompas.com on Monday (20/4/2026). This addresses the circulating confusion that the government is allocating 1,000 subsidised KPR houses for SPPG. According to him, the nature of SPPG employees’ work is not fixed, with a high likelihood of relocation. Therefore, an alternative of developing simple rental apartments (rusunawa) that are close to or integrated with SPPG kitchens would be more appropriate. So far, the government has been seen as trapped in home or property ownership schemes. In fact, residential area development must be systematic and sustainable, not sporadic. “The government is always trapped in home or property ownership schemes. As a result, the numbers are only a few hundred or thousand, whereas President (Prabowo Subianto)’s target is 3 million houses per year,” he said.
