Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has stated that the DPR RI and the government have finalised the status and number of teachers classified as part-time and full-time government employees with work agreements (PPPK) who will be eligible to become civil servants (PNS) through a selection process in 2027.

Dasco said that the aspiration of PPPK teachers to be appointed as PNS is one that the DPR RI frequently receives from teachers.

According to him, the opportunity to take part in the PNS selection is not limited to regular school teachers, but also includes madrasah teachers and kindergarten (TK) teachers.

“We have reached the finalisation of the meeting results regarding the status of part-time PPPK teachers and PPPK teachers who wish to become PNS within the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, including state madrasah teachers and kindergarten teachers,” Dasco said at a press conference at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 18 August 2026.

Meanwhile, Minister for State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Rini Widyantini stated that the current number of teachers with PPPK status is 995,245, while the number of part-time PPPK teachers is 231,246.

At the same time, she said there is currently a projected national teacher recruitment need of 526,689 positions, covering teachers at various school levels, madrasahs, Sekolah Rakyat (People’s Schools), and Sekolah Garuda (Garuda Schools).

She explained that part-time PPPK teachers will have the opportunity to be appointed to full-time PPPK status. Full-time PPPK teachers will then be given the opportunity to take part in the PNS selection in early 2027.

“We will open recruitment for the projected national teacher needs for 2026, including the needs of Sekolah Rakyat, Integrated Schools, and Sekolah Garuda,” Rini said.
