Jakarta — Indonesia’s Labour Minister Yassierli has signalled positive prospects for ojek online (ride-hailing) and courier drivers to receive year-end bonuses this year. The government has held discussions with digital platforms and received positive responses regarding the implementation of Tunjangan Hari Raya (THR) or Bonus Hari Raya (BHR) for these workers.

“We have already held discussions. Thankfully, their response has been positive and they are committed. We will formalise this through a ministerial circular or at the time of the official launch,” Yassierli said during a press conference at his office in Jakarta on Wednesday (25 February 2026).

However, the government has not yet made an official announcement regarding the scheme for ojek and courier drivers. The government is still awaiting coordination with the State Secretariat Ministry before making a joint announcement.

“We are still waiting for coordination with the State Secretariat Ministry, and then we will announce it together,” he said.

Yassierli noted that the government hopes the scheme to be announced will be better than previous versions. However, specific details will be released alongside the overall THR policy announcement.

In previous years, ojek online and courier workers were not included in the THR scheme applicable to formal workers. The government subsequently promoted the granting of Hari Raya Bonuses (BHR) in 2025 as a form of appreciation, given the partnership status attached to digital platform workers.

Following directions from President Prabowo Subianto, Yassierli previously issued a circular regarding THR provision, including BHR for ojek and courier workers. Under this policy, the government urged online transportation companies such as Gojek and Grab to provide BHR to workers with strong performance.

The BHR amount is set at a maximum of 20% of average monthly income, with the percentage adjusted based on the level of activity and performance of each driver or courier. The BHR is also required to be paid no later than seven days before Eid al-Fitr.

“BHR is given at the latest seven days before Eid al-Fitr. The provision of BHR does not eliminate welfare benefits for drivers or couriers. The provision of this religious Hari Raya bonus represents appreciation for their support in providing transportation and logistics services,” Yassierli said.

The scheme and mechanism for BHR disbursement is entirely delegated to each online transportation company. The government hopes the mechanism will run smoothly to support the creation of a better labour ecosystem.

Yassierli also revealed that the BHR policy for ojek and courier workers underwent an extensive discussion process. Over approximately four months, the government discussed with application companies and worker representatives until reaching a consensus.
