Will Non-Subsidised Fuel Prices Fall in July? Here's What Bahlil Says

Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Bahlil Lahadalia will evaluate the selling price of fuel oil (BBM), particularly non-subsidised types, against the movement of global crude oil prices. This is being done for the fuel selling price for the July 2026 period. Bahlil asked the public to be patient while waiting for the results of the calculations being carried out. He stressed that energy pricing policy cannot change immediately based solely on short-term market fluctuations, but must consider the average price over a certain period. “It’s only just gone up, it’s been up for two weeks, almost three weeks, right? Why didn’t you ask back then why it wasn’t lowered?” he said when met at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, as quoted on Tuesday (30/6/2026). Indeed, the government has been trying to keep fuel prices stable amid global geopolitical uncertainty which had previously impacted the rise in crude oil prices. As a result, non-subsidised fuel prices only experienced an increase in early June 2026. Bahlil reminded that public purchasing power remains a priority before making decisions regarding price adjustments at petrol stations. “We’ll just see. Media friends, you also have to be fair. When oil prices were rising for more than two months, almost three months, we didn’t raise them,” he added. To date, the Ministry of ESDM is still monitoring the daily development of crude oil prices and the rupiah exchange rate.
