Based on the latest reports from detikNews, the government is still refining the scheme for civil servant (ASN) recruitment for 2026. Several options are being examined, including formation needs in various agencies and adjustments to fiscal conditions and national development priorities.
State Secretary Minister (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi provided an official statement regarding the continuation of this recruitment on Tuesday, 17 March 2026, at the Ministry of Defence office in Central Jakarta. He emphasised that the formulation of the number of formations is still in the finalisation stage.
“Not yet, we’re finalising it, we’re formulating it,” said Prasetyo Hadi after attending the Coordination Meeting for Supervising the President’s Strategic Programme on Tuesday (17/3/2026).
Although almost all ministers present at the meeting had submitted their staff needs for their respective agencies, the government has not yet been able to release detailed figures because the discussions are still very dynamic.
“In general, almost all the ministers who attended had already conveyed their needs. But in this afternoon’s opportunity, we cannot yet provide detailed figures because the discussion then developed,” Prasetyo Hadi continued.
The Ministry of PAN-RB has also moved quickly by sending letters to all ministries, agencies, and regional governments to accurately map staff needs.
“But there are needs from each ministry, and the Minister of PAN-RB has also sent letters to all K/L, and to regional governments as well, to conduct a kind of mapping. Although actually, separately, we at the centre are also mapping all existing ASN. So this is being sought for a meeting point later when talking about numbers,” explained Prasetyo Hadi.
