Wild Ball: JK Video Controversy Spreads Everywhere
The controversy over a snippet of a sermon by Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK), is heating up. The Maluku Professional Advocates Alliance (APAM) has reported Ade Armando and Permadi Arya, alias Abu Janda, to Metro Jaya Police over alleged incitement and provocation.
The report was registered under number LP/B/2767/IV/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA, dated 20 April 2026. APAM believes the social media posting of the JK sermon clip has caused a stir in the public sphere.
“We came to Metro Jaya Police to file a police report regarding the alleged criminal acts of incitement and provocation suspected to have been committed by Mr Ade Armando and Permadi Arya through social media,” said APAM representative and complainant Paman Nurlette to journalists on Tuesday (21/4/2026).
Nurlette stated that the JK sermon video clip uploaded by Ade on the Cokro TV YouTube channel and by Permadi on his Facebook account has created negative perceptions and the potential to incite enmity.
“I am absolutely certain that if the video had been posted in its entirety, without being cut as we see now, the public would not be contaminated, and the public would not be provoked by such a video,” he said.
In the report, the complainant also submitted several pieces of evidence, from the full JK sermon video, the clip uploaded by Ade on the Cokro TV YouTube channel, to the clip uploaded by Permadi on his Facebook account.
Ade and Abu Janda were reported in connection with alleged violations of Article 48 in conjunction with Article 32 of the ITE Law and/or Article 243 of the Criminal Code. Nurlette emphasised that the report does not represent Jusuf Kalla.
“It is not from Mr Jusuf Kalla; we see the mens rea in the video clip that prompted us to file the report,” he said.
Response from Ade Armando and Abu Janda
Ade Armando responded to the APAM report. He claimed not to understand the substance of the report directed at him.
“I don’t understand the substance of their report. Why am I accused of cutting Mr JK’s sermon to cause a commotion? I did not cut or edit and then disseminate it. What I did was merely comment on the JK sermon clip that was circulating online,” said Ade Armando when contacted on Tuesday (21/4/2026).
Ade stated he is ready to follow the ongoing legal process. “I’m ready (to follow the legal process),” he said.
Meanwhile, Abu Janda gave a brief response to the report. He considered the report to be politically charged.
“Clearly, that report is based on hatred and political grudges,” he said.
Metro Jaya Police Review the Report
Metro Jaya Police confirmed they have received the report against Ade Armando and Abu Janda regarding the alleged incitement and provocation. The police are currently reviewing the incoming report.
“It is true there is such a report. Currently, the report is still being reviewed,” said Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, to journalists on Tuesday (21/4/2026).
Budi Hermanto explained that the complainant is implicating the two with allegations under Article 48 of Law No. 1 of 2024 on the Second Amendment to Law No. 11 of 2008 in conjunction with Article 32 and/or Article 243 of the Criminal Code.
“For the evidence reported, there are three sheets of documents, printouts of screen conversations, and a flash drive,” he added.
