WIKAIKON Supports Regional Connectivity Through Suspension Bridge Procurement Across Indonesia

PT Wijaya Karya Industri & Konstruksi (WIKAIKON), a subsidiary of PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk, is strengthening its role in supporting national infrastructure development through the procurement of suspension bridges across various Indonesian regions during the first half of 2026. The initiative is designed to enhance community connectivity, particularly in areas facing geographical challenges such as rivers, valleys, and limited inter-regional access. The presence of these suspension bridges is expected to facilitate safer mobility, improve the distribution of goods, and provide better access to education, healthcare, and local economic centres. The programme is being implemented through regional National Road Implementation Centres (BPJN), with procurement mechanisms following applicable regulations, including the Sectoral e-Catalogue and provider selection processes coordinated by the National Road Implementation Task Force (PJN). Projects are spread across several provinces, including North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Lampung, Banten, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Southeast Sulawesi, and South Sulawesi. The bridges are produced with varying spans of 40, 60, 80, 100, and 120 metres, tailored to the specific characteristics and needs of each location. President Director of PT Wijaya Karya Industri & Konstruksi, Tri Prabowo, stated that the construction of suspension bridges plays a vital role in delivering safer, easier, and more equitable access for communities. He noted that behind every structure lies the public’s hope for better access, and that infrastructure is not merely about construction but about enabling people to conduct their daily activities more safely, quickly, and conveniently. This trust in WIKAIKON for suspension bridge procurement marks a significant achievement in the first half of 2026 and reflects the company’s strengthening capability as an Indonesian steel fabricator providing engineering, fabrication, and construction solutions to support national infrastructure development. The project is supported by WIKAIKON’s steel fabrication plant in Majalengka, which has an annual production capacity of 65,000 tonnes of steel. Equipped with modern fabrication technology, an integrated quality control system, and an experienced workforce, the company is capable of producing various steel structures for bridges, industrial buildings, energy facilities, and other strategic infrastructure. WIKAIKON measures project success not only by completion but also by the tangible benefits felt by communities, aiming to strengthen inter-regional connectivity, facilitate mobility, and support more equitable local economic growth.
