WIKA to Build Weda Regional General Hospital, Strengthening Healthcare Services in North Maluku
Central Halmahera (ANTARA) - PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) has begun the construction and renovation of the Weda Regional General Hospital in Central Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province. This project is part of the Ministry of Health’s Integrated Health Service Program (PHTC), which aims to provide better quality healthcare facilities in the region.
In this project, WIKA is undertaking several scopes of work, including planning, structural work, architecture, interior design, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, and landscaping. The project, funded from the 2026 State Budget, has a budget of IDR 183.82 billion and is targeted for completion in December 2026.
Currently, the project has entered the initial phase of implementation, starting with preparatory work, technical planning, shop drawing preparation, arrangement of the work area, and procurement of materials, equipment, and supporting vendors. Subsequently, construction work will be carried out in stages to support the completion of the project according to the target.
The Corporate Secretary of PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk, Ngatemin, said that the construction of the Weda Regional General Hospital is part of WIKA’s commitment to providing reliable and beneficial healthcare infrastructure for the community.
“WIKA is committed to ensuring that the construction of the Weda Regional General Hospital is carried out in accordance with quality standards, occupational safety, and the established completion targets. The presence of this healthcare facility is expected to provide real benefits for the community of Central Halmahera and its surroundings,” said Ngatemin.
The construction of the Weda Regional General Hospital is expected to strengthen community access to more adequate, modern, and representative healthcare services. With better facilities, the hospital will later be able to support the improvement of healthcare quality in North Maluku, especially for the community in the Central Halmahera region.
This project is also in line with the Government’s Asta Cita in strengthening human resource development by improving the quality of basic services, including the health sector. The presence of better healthcare infrastructure is an important part of promoting equitable development, especially for regions that still need adequate public facilities, including underdeveloped, remote, and outermost (3T) areas.
In this context, the construction of the Weda Regional General Hospital not only serves as a provider of healthcare facilities but is also part of an effort to reduce the gap in access to basic services between central and regional areas. With the availability of more representative healthcare infrastructure, people in the regions can receive services that are closer, more decent, and sustainable.
In its implementation, WIKA applies a project control system that includes site management, layout management, and traffic management. This step is taken to ensure that the mobilization of materials, equipment, and labor is carried out in an orderly and safe manner, and to minimize disruption to activities around the project area.
Through the construction of the Weda Regional General Hospital, WIKA supports equitable access to healthcare services in Indonesia. The presence of quality healthcare infrastructure is an important part of building a healthier, more productive, and competitive society, while also strengthening equitable development in areas that need more attention.
