Jakarta (ANTARA) – PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) is supporting the smooth flow of traffic during the 2026 Eid holiday period through the opening of functional access to the Probolinggo–Banyuwangi (Probowangi) toll road’s Western Situbondo segment. This functional access is expected to help alleviate traffic congestion on the arterial route whilst providing an alternative route for the public travelling in East Java’s eastern region.

This step is part of WIKA’s support for the smooth 2026 Eid holiday travel, which embodies the spirit of “Safe Travel, Shared Hope”, by providing infrastructure that supports public travel to be safer, more comfortable, and more efficient.

The Western Situbondo functional access has been opened in two directions exclusively for Class I vehicles (non-buses) during the period from 14 March 2026 to 29 March 2026, with operational hours from 06:00 to 16:00 WIB.

WIKA’s Chief Executive Officer stated that the opening of this access represents the company’s contribution in supporting public mobility during the Eid holiday period.

“The opening of this Probowangi toll road functional access is part of WIKA’s commitment to providing infrastructure that delivers direct benefits to the public, particularly in supporting smooth mobility and regional connectivity in East Java,” said WIKA’s Chief Executive Officer.

As part of the strategic Trans-Java Toll Road network, the Probowangi toll road plays an important role in enhancing connectivity in East Java’s eastern region. The toll road directly connects Probolinggo to Situbondo/Besuki and supports balanced economic development in the Tapal Kuda region through to Banyuwangi.

The existence of this toll road is projected to be able to reduce travel time between Probolinggo and Banyuwangi by approximately 30–50 per cent compared to the existing arterial route. In addition to improving travel efficiency, the presence of this toll road also has the potential to reduce logistics costs through congestion reduction and fuel consumption efficiency, thereby supporting the smooth distribution of goods and services in the coastal East Java region.
